Serving | Service to Others

At FUMCG we provide numerous opportunities to serve others in our community, no matter your skills, schedule or age.  We believe that if you have a desire to help others, you should get the chance to do so.  The following are the outreach and service ministries that we regularly conduct:

  • Thanksgiving Day: Join us each Thanksgiving morning as we cook, package and deliver more than 1500 Thanksgiving meals to needy families in our community. Throughout November we also collect non-perishable food items to support the South Florida Urban Ministries Thanksgiving program.
  • SFLUM Branches:  South Florida Urban Ministries Branches program tutors children during after school programs.  Help once a week or go on a field trip with those children in our community who need extra adult support and love.
  • Feeding The Homeless: Join us the third Friday of each month as we prepare and serve meals at the Community Partnership for the Homeless assistance center in Downtown Miami.
  • Habitat For Humanity:  Anyone over the age of 16 is welcome to join us in this ecumenical Christian ministry whose purpose is to build simple, decent, affordable homes and communities in partnership with low-income families in Greater Miami.  No construction experience necessary!
  • Community Pantry: This ongoing program supports people in our community who enter our doors in hunger. Ministry members collect non-perishable, single-serving food items, then pack them into individual lunch bags for distribution.
  • Miami Rescue Mission: We reach out to the least, the last and the lost of our community through an annual clothing drive – and with human compassion and the love of God.
  • Riverside House: A faith-based residential program located in central Miami, Riverside House guides people who have committed a crime or fallen prey to substance abuse to break free from the cycle of self-destruction and return to living positive and productive lives. Ministry members collect, sort, and distribute toiletries and personal care items for residents to use as they leave the facility.

Connect with Mary Ward for information on any of these Service areas at 305-445-2578, ext. 103.
