Get involved. Be the Change You Want to See: Volunteering at FUMCCG

"Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can."

--John Wesley, Co-founder of the Methodist Church

United Methodists have always believed that each of us is called to use our unique God-given talents and gifts and help in every way and everywhere we can. Volunteering is a wonderful way to put our faith into action and lies at the very heart of our Christian calling.

During our 2017 Vision Session, "Charting a New Course," we committed to doing more good in more places. We, therefore, heartily encourage each of you - our loving church family and friends- to join us on our generosity of spirit adventure to be the change we want to see in the world!

Because of Irma's damaging impact on our area, we had to re-schedule our "Rise Against Hunger" meal packaging event to October 21. But as we can see in the devastating news images from all around the Caribbean and in Texas - and in our very own Florida - the need for this meal packaging event has never been greater! Join us as on this new date as we prepare to do more good on behalf of our global family.

"Rise Against Hunger" is another exciting opportunity to keep the good going, as we celebrate the joyous occasion of the official launching of our Spanish ministry. This hands-on service event will include the packaging of highly nutritious dehydrated meals comprised of rice, soy, vegetables, and 23 essential vitamins and minerals; and provide immediate relief to parts of the world where hunger's devastating effects are happening right now.

Be sure to stay connected to your church for information and be the change you want to see.

The Good We Have Already Done - Together!

2017 "I Am The Change" Mission Trip to the Dominican Republic

Background  | About this event:

FUMCCG embarked on an expedition of love - a mission trip to the Dominican Republic. Our enthusiastic volunteers served as a dynamic part of our partnership with a local church in the Dominican Republic, and helped renovate classrooms for elementary students. Our group departed on June 13th and immediately began making a difference in the community; and returned to Miami on Sunday, June 18, 2017.  We thank all of our joyful participants for joining us for this unique opportunity and being the change they want to see in the world!

Kristi House Project Gold Outreach of Love and Kindness

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this very special opportunity to spend time with some truly inspirational young ladies during our previous outreach!  We would like to also thank the young women who welcomed us into their lives and filled us with inspiration and awe. We look forward to developing a long and lasting friendship!

Background  | About this event:

Human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery. Traffickers take advantage of vulnerable persons with false promises or physical abduction, forcing them into contract slavery, forced labor and sexual trafficking. We invite our church members to join us on for a very special outreach to spread hope and love to the young victims of human trafficking that are being helped by the Kristi House' Project Gold. The Project Gold program provides outreach and services to children exploited in sex trafficking, helping them see a better future for themselves and restore their lives.

If you want to participate but cannot attend that day, you can also contribute by preparing a dish to be served!
